Confirmation Preparation for Young People - Tonight

Any young person interested in being confirmed please join us this evening in the St John’s Parish Room, Magee House, John St at 7.00 pm.

The Alpha Course

The introductory session of the next course is on Wednesday 4 February at 7.15 pm in the Catacombs. If you haven’t done the course before you are welcome to come. The first session ‘Is there more to life than this?’ gives an overview of what the course is like. Maybe you could invite a friend or family member to attend? There is no charge. Guy Marsden will be the course leader.

 

Tuesday Morning Rectory Group

Tuesday 11.15 am – 12.30 pm. The current practice is: Community. There are four sessions: Be Family, Share, Confess and Stay. If you’re free on Tuesday mornings why not join us?

The next GAP youth group meeting is on Saturday 7 February in Wine St Methodist Church 7.00 – 9.00 pm.

 

Charity Sky Dive

Indie Sentis grew up in Calry Church. She is currently working as an emergency medical technician with LifeLine Ambulances. She is doing a charity sky dive for the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation in May by jumping from 13,000 feet. You can sponsor her by using the QR code which will take you to the gofundme page.

 

Social Ground Force – Addiction Recovery, Suicide Prevention

SGF is based at what was once Kilgallen’s Bar on The Mall. Aubrey Melville and a team of others have been working hard to provide help for those who need it. Please pray for God to prosper the work.

 

Bible Reading Plan

If you are thinking about reading through the Bible in a year this website will help you by providing readings for each day of the year combining a portion of the Old Testament a portion of the New, a Psalm and section from Proverbs. The late Alec Foley, a much loved Calry parishioner who died in 2013, was a keen photographer. His family are offering a number of his framed pictures to anyone who would like to take one or more of them. Have a look and help yourself! The pictures are in church.

 

Parish and Diocesan Readers’ Day

Would you like to find out more about being a parish or diocesan Reader? There is a special event being held at the Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon for existing and potential readers on Saturday 28 February from 10.30 am – 3.30 pm. This includes a complimentary lunch. If you would like to attend please let the Rector know.

 

Kindu

In a WhatsApp message sent on Friday Archbishop Masimango describes a very serious state of affairs with rebel soldiers as close as 16 km to the city of Kindu. Over 57,600 people have fled the vicinity in search of refuge. Please pray for them in this very alarming situation.

Adrian Cornwall’s relative Fred Cornwall died on 22nd January in Ballinlough, Co Roscommon.
