Calry 200 - Volunteers Needed

This is a significant year for Calry as we mark our bi-centenary. There are two areas that we need lots of extra help with. Firstly, manning the church so that it can be open for visitors throughout the summer from 11 am – 2 pm Monday to Saturday from 20th May – 31st August. Could you help, even by volunteering for one or two days during that time?

Secondly, we have decided to read the entire Bible aloud in the church. By aiming to read for an hour a day, 6 days a week it should take us the summer to get through it all. So that during the time that the church is open each day someone will read at some stage for 60 minutes. The idea is to read it aloud, whether or not there is a group of people there to listen. The hour of reading doesn't have to happen all at once. It is envisaged that whoever is reading will take several breaks, or maybe share it with someone else.

Easter General Vestry Results

Our Easter General Vestry meeting took place on Thursday evening. It was a good natured and positive evening. This is the list of office holders. I would emphasize the value of looking at this short guide if you are unsure about what any of this means:  https://www.dkea.ie/an-introduction-to-vestry-membership/

Orla Murrin and Tamara Irene from last year’s Select Vestry both opted not to stand again this time. Sneha Mathew is new to the SV and is now Secretary (taking over from Tammy) and Ambrose Bamber is the new People’s Glebe Warden. Margaret Henry continues as Treasurer.

Office Holders (ex-officio members of the Select Vestry)

Rector’s Church Warden: Charles Roberts

People’s Church Warden: Temitope Ososanya

Rector’s Glebe Warden: David Henry

People’s Glebe Warden: Ambrose Bamber

The full list of who is on the SV will be made public soon.

Please pray for all as they take on their roles and responsibilities.

Indian Elections

Did you know that the largest election in history is taking place now in India with 980 million eligible voters - 12.5 % of the whole world’s population! Religious freedom in India has come under pressure with the current Hindu nationalist BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Indian Christians are asking for prayer for their great nation. To find out more go to: https://opendoorsuk.org/news/latest-news/india-elections/

Congratulations!

Ambrose Bamber was 19 on Saturday.
