We are delighted that Bishop Ferran is here for the Sunday morning service in Calry. We are looking forward to the Sunday School children’s Creation song. In addition to that, several other important things are happening: Bishop Ferran will explain the new situation in the Drumcliffe Group. Claudio Barguena will be introduced as our new youth worker and Canon Ronnie Bourke will be given the title of Associate Minister of Calry.
This is Climate Sunday. Churches across Ireland and Britain are being asked to emphasise the urgent need to address climate change. The UN 26th Conference of the Parties (COP 26 for short) takes place in Glasgow from 31st October to 12th November this year. It is a very important opportunity for nations and organisations to focus on what must be done. Please pray for the conference. Inform yourself and see what changes you can make to consume less and preserve balance and diversity in the natural world.
We are able to join in congregational singing. Today Claudio will lead us in two worship songs. Mette will play the organ at the beginning and end of the service and the Sunday School children will sing a song about the days of creation.
Fort Hill at 7.30 pm this evening for football. All secondary aged young people welcome! Parents: Registration forms are required to be filled in for any under 18s. Please ask for one if you haven’t done so yet.
The Daily Office
This has moved to the later time of 10.30 am on both Tuesday and Thursday. Come in person or watch online.
Saturdays Inter-Church Prayer
An hour of prayer, reflection and fellowship 8.00 – 9.00 am. All welcome. Contact Patrick for the link.
Next Sunday 12th September will be a special Presentation Sunday for the Generous Giving Programme. Please make every effort to be in church that morning!
Today Canon Ronnie is made Associate Minister of Calry by Bishop Ferran. Canon Ronnie has many years of ordained ministry behind him. This new title does not mean that he is coming out of retirement. Rather, it is a way of recognising what he has been effectively doing for the last little while in Calry. The service today is a reminder that all God’s people are called to serve in whatever way they are able, using their gifts for the good of God’s people and for his glory.
Introducing… Claudio Barguena
Claudio has been working since 2019 with Exodus – a youth organisation committed to disciple-making. He originates in Chile, is married to Laura, lives in Kinlough and loves surfing and worship leading. Later this month Claudio is going to start as a paid part-time youth worker for Calry Parish. This represents a brave and bold decision of the Select Vestry to invest in our young people. Claudio is undoubtedly a gifted individual, but he’s going to need a team behind him. Please pray for him, his wife Laura and ministry amongst young people in Sligo.

Listen my dear brothers and sisters: has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and
to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
