Date Service Time & Type:

Sundays in August

The next few Sundays will be a little different. Canon Patrick will be on leave from the 9th – 23rd August (with the exception of services in Riverstown on 16th). Matthew Topley will be kindly leading services in Calry in his absence. This will be the last notice sheet for a few weeks. We will most likely be saying farewell to Erin and Matthew on 23rd August when Archdeacon Isaac will be leading.

Nils Kavanagh

Nils is taking on the baton from Matthew of leading our sung worship, after Matthew gallantly took it on from Mrs Eunjoo Goh. Nils has finished in the Grammar School and is planning on taking a ‘gap’ year. During this time we are looking forward to seeing him grow into this new role. It’s a very positive development.

Yesterday’s Youth Event

Thanks to everyone who helped with the youth gathering on Streedgah beach. We had a great time, albeit a little wet!

Wednesday 9 am

This Wednesday will probably be our last daily office on FB for a little while. Thanks for the encouraging feedback.

Sponsored Walk for Kindu

Canon Patrick writes:
From Tuesday to Thursday 4-6th August Carla and myself are aiming to walk the Sligo Way, 80 km in total. We are doing this to raise money for our link diocese of Kindu in DR Congo (view the interview with Archbishop Masimango). The target is to raise a further €1250 for Kindu. Of that over €500 has already been donated online or in cash. (Calry has already sent a cheque for €480 a few weeks ago.) Thank you so much to everyone who has given!

To sponsor us please go to: www.idonate.ie/sligowayforkindu

We would love some Calry parishioners to join us on sections of the walk. This is the breakdown of the route and a rough idea of when we hope to tackle each section. (Plans may change!) If you want to join us please get in touch to arrange where to meet. NB: Everyone walks at their own risk. This is not an organised group activity. We will be endeavouring to adhere to social distancing throughout.
