Linked with the Diocese of Kindu, Province of the Anglican Church of Congo

Thank you very much to Pam Boardwell of Sligo Baptist Church who is leading our sung worship today together with Sneha Mathew. And we are officially able to sing as a congregation today (Hurray!)… so long as it is with our masks on.

Open-air Sunday School

Thanks to our SS leaders we are able to hold SS outside again today. Children stay in church until after the ‘children’s slot’ and then make their way to the Rectory garden with the leaders. Parents need to fill out a covid questionnaire before their children can come.

Youth Group

We’re planning to meet in Fort Hill at 7.30 pm this evening for football.

The Daily Office

This is re-starting on Tuesday at 9.30 am.

Saturdays Inter-Church Prayer

An hour of prayer, reflection and fellowship 8.00 – 9.00 am. All welcome. Contact Patrick for the link.

Sponsored Walk for our Link Diocese

Thank you VERY MUCH to everyone who kindly supported the sponsored walk for Kindu. It was a good team effort! There were a variety of people involved each day and others who very helpfully offered lifts to and from the walk each morning and evening. Donations will close next weekend but so far we have nearly reached our target. To give online go to: www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/11409870_calry-parish-fundraising-walk-for-kindu.html

Next Sunday

Next Sunday is our monthly all age service. The Sunday School have been preparing a little song for it on the theme of Creation. Bishop Ferran will be present in order to designate Canon Ronnie as Associate Minister of Calry. This is a very positive development. It marks the important role Canon Ronnie has in the parish. He will continue to determine his own level of involvement as a retired minister.

Presentation Sunday

Sunday 12th September will be a special Presentation Sunday for the Generous Giving Programme. Please make every effort to be in church that morning!

Drumcliffe Group

Archdeacon Isaac Hanna and his family are leaving Drumcliffe Group of parishes and moving to Northern Ireland in order for him to take up a new role in Church Army. After his departure Canon Patrick will provide support for Rev Malcolm Young and for ministry in the Group.

Ivy Frances Elizabeth Davitt

Yesterday was Ivy’s baptism in Calry. It was a great occasion with friends and family joining together in person and on Zoom, to mark this significant moment in her young life.

Thank You

A hearty thanks to Canon Ronnie Bourke and Nadine Shannon for leading worship in Calry the Sundays when Canon Patrick was away.

Back to School

We wish Cosy Cats Pre-school, Carbury National School and its new principal Ms Linda McMahon, the pupils and staff of Sligo Grammar School and all schools we are connected with God’s blessing for the new year ahead.

Personal News

We wish Temitope every blessing as she spends the next three weeks in Nigeria – her first visit in 3 ½ years.

  • School-aged children, young people and teachers
  • Ms Linda McMahon - new principal of Carbury NS
  • Drumcliffe Group and the Hannas as they depart
  • God’s purposes to be worked out in the turmoil of Afghanistan

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.
