Well, we walked! It was a great adventure but we didn’t make the whole distance. We went as far as we could in a day starting at 4.30 am. Thanks for the messages of support along the way. There’s a bit of a report on the FB page and some pics. It’s not too late to sponsor us if you wish to by going to www.idonate.ie/CalryKinduTeam
Gus has appointments to collect our visas in London on 10th July. Please pray all goes ahead as planned!
Leaving Cert Exams
Congratulations to those students who have finished their exams! God bless you and guide you for your next steps! There are one or two papers left so we trust those with something still to do won’t lose their focus.
‘Tuesday’ Rectory Group
This is the last session before a break for the summer. We are still following The Prayer Course.
New Church Using Calry
Here we are adjusting to the changing circumstances of our world! The Select Vestry has given approval, with the approval of Bishop Ferran, for a brand new congregation of the Indian Syrian Orthodox Church to celebrate their mass in Calry once a month on Saturday morning. The first service took place yesterday. The congregation numbering about 30 were mainly young families. The mass lasted about 2 hours and afterwards was a spread of delicious Indian food. All was conducted in the language of Malayalam, spoken in the State of Kerala and elsewhere in South India.
The dates of this year’s conference are Sunday 9th – Friday 14th July. For a limited time there is a special rate for locals who book to attend each day. Instead of €165 this now will cost €80. There is a special youth and children’s programme. To find out more go to: www.newwineireland.org
…is an exciting Christian residential event for 14-18 year olds held at Clongowes Wood College, Co Kildare from 31st July – 4th August. Move is organised by Christ in Youth (CIY). A group from Sligo will be travelling together to Move led by Claudio Barguena. Those who went last year had a great time! The cost is €249 if you book before 15th July (otherwise it is €275). An initial deposit of €20 must be paid when you book. For more details contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Accommodation for New Wine
Someone who was here for the Gathered-In mission in Sligo a few years ago is in need of accommodation for New Wine. He is looking to rent somewhere for a group of four, or two smaller places for two people each. He has transport. The dates are Sunday 9th – Friday 14th July.
Farewell to the Nicolls
Revd Jeremy and Judy Nicoll are leaving for Bandon in Co Cork. They have been in Sligo since 2015 and have contributed a great deal to our community life and the working together of Sligo churches including Spring to Life. Many will remember their unassuming kindness, integrity and proficiency. Jeremy’s role here has not been confined to Sligo Methodist Church but to a much larger area in North Connacht.
We look forward to meeting their successors in due course an ordained couple from the United States called Dan and Courtney Randall and their three school-age children. The new Manse is in the Farmhill Manor estate off the Strandhill Rd.
There will be no notice sheet for the next two Sundays. Tammy will be at Summer Madness with SAMS.
Many happy returns to Aaron Ivers who was 11 on Friday and Maeve Colleary who turned XX (a two-digit number) yesterday.
