This morning we are thinking about the persecuted church. The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is held in November. Some 360 million Christians live in places where they are persecuted simply for their faith.

Scriptures passages today are Psalm 125 and 2 Corinthians 4.
Hymns are: Jesus, hope of the nations; 605 Will you come and follow me; 597 Take my life and let it be
Sunday School and Bell Tower Group (12s-14s) are both meeting.

Coffee and tea will be served afterwards.

ATU CU

The CU now has a five-strong student committee and there are two meetings a week open to students and staff Wednesday at 6 pm and Thursday at 1 pm both in the Sanctuary beside the Chaplaincy Office.

Rising Up Against Domestic Violence

The Mothers’ Union is calling us to a focussed time of prayer and action from Saturday 25th November to Sunday 10th December to combat domestic violence. For more information go to: www.mothersunion.org/riseup

Advent Bible Buddies Launch Night

On Friday 1st December 6.30 pm – 7.15 pm children with a parent or guardian are invited to Taunagh Parish Church, Riverstown to receive their free Bible Buddy Teddy and Advent Family Bible Reading Pack. The eircode is F52 FY71.

Carbury NS Parents’ Association

The PA is holding a Festive Flower Arranging Demonstration on Monday 4th December at 7 pm. Cost is €10.

Mothers’ Union Enrolment & Advent Carol Service Wed 6thDecember in St John’s at 8 pm

Mulled wine and mince pies afterwards in the Parish Room. Marlene Horan and Andrea Norris are being enrolled. It will be Trudi Williams’ last night as Branch Leader and Margaret Henry’s last night as Hon. Treasurer. From January Marlet Hunter will be Branch Leader and Kathleen Nairn will be Hon Treasurer.

Save the Date – Legacy Talk for Men

On Thursday 1st February 2024, the Riverstown Group of Parishes will be hosting a visit from Andy Lamberton from Exodus North West. Andy will give a ‘Legacy Talk’ at 8 pm, about the need for engaged fathers today. This talk is aimed at all who are (or are going to be) fathers to children and young people.

Prayer Requests for Israel and Gaza

Pray for an end to all violence and injustice in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Pray that the church might be a beacon of hope in the region through their testimony in words and actions.
Pray that the Lord will comfort those who have lost loved ones, or who are waiting to hear about missing family and friends.
Pray also that the international community will work towards lasting peace in the Holy Land.
