Bible Read-a-Thon and Church Welcomers
We are now about to start Philippians and Psalm 89. We are aiming to read the whole New Testament and the Book of Psalms for the second time by the end of the month.
Each day the church is open we need welcomers as well as readers. Please sign up if you can help (and see below).
Heritage Week
This is Heritage Week – a national initiative. Calry is participating. We are offering a warm welcome to any visitors that choose to come between Saturday 17th and Sunday 24th August between 11 am and 2 pm each day. We need more help! (See the sign-up above.)
Saturday 8 am Inter-church Prayer Meeting
24th August - SeungHe Park, Sligo Methodist Church, Wine St
Hospitality Week 18th – 25th August
In contrast to Heritage Week this is a Calry initiative. Nearly everyone should be able to participate to some extent. All you have to do is invite someone from church over for a bite to eat or drink. It could just be for a cup of coffee and a biscuit. Use the opportunity to take a risk and invite someone from church who you don’t know so well. Go on – give it a go!
Gathering for Prayer
With the start of the new academic year around the corner there is much to pray for. There is going to be a special gathering for prayer in Calry on Sunday 1st September at 7 pm. Please come and join in.
Advance Notice
Our friends from All Saints’ Little Shelford would like to come and visit us. The provisional plan at the moment is for a small group from AS to come the first w/e of October 4-6th and that we hold a women’s event, a men’s event and our Harvest Thanksgiving Service. They will need accommodation. Please get in touch if you would like to be involved or would be willing to offer a place to stay. www.allsaintslittleshelford.org

An Old Bible
A bible has been found outside The Model. It is an old copy of the KJV apparently given to a Mr Burns on the occasion of his wedding in June 1824. Does anyone know who this may have been?
News from Kindu, DRC
The very difficult situation with regard to food supplies has improved significantly with the arrival of the rice harvest and the dry season. However, please pray for church leaders as they face the challenge of corrupt political influence in the life of society.
